"A Healthy Brain lives in a Healthy Body" - #Fit India Movement - 2020

The Fit India Scheme was inaugurated on 29th August on National Sports Day by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

Through the Prime Minister appealed to the citizens to adapt to the physically active program. He also emphasized the physical benefits of practicing yoga and said that it should be an integral part of everyone’s routine.

The technology has left us lazy and physically inactive, resulting in increasing obesity, diabetes and other diseases. Many countries have already felt the need to stay fit and have already started such programs for the population to participate to keep them fit.

It is said that to achieve success in life it is necessary to keep your mind fit and healthy and it is achieved only by keeping out body healthy.

Many young sports personalities of India, who have won for the nation are coming forward to motivate the people to stay fit.

A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to carry forward the movement. Shri Rijiju said that he is confident that he will be able to take this movement to new heights with fellow Indians. A broad program is made at national level for schools and colleges in which all students will participate everyday by motivating their relatives friends and neighours to do exercises in any form and at any time of the day. This program will last up to 2nd of October 2020.

The movement aims to encourage people to have more active lifestyles for a healthy future. People were asked to exercise regularly, play recreational sports and do yoga to stay fit.

The opening ceremony was grand, with the Prime Minister inaugurating the movement from the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, New Delhi. Many other eminent personalities from politics, bureaucracy, sports and media were present at the launch.

This day is National Sports Day and the birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand; The Prime Minister paid tribute to the legendary hockey player of India.

 

The main aim of this program is to keep all citizens  mentally healthy and physically strong.
